QGIS 2.6 ‘Brighton’ released

In the new release of QGIS 2.6.0 a series of new features have been added concerning

  • General: new features and bugfixes,
  • DXF export (improvements),
  • Map Composer (enhancements),
  • Processing (including a new modeler implementation),
  • QGIS Server (improvements),
  • Symbology (including user interface improvements),
  • User Interface with improvements.

Congratulations to all QGIS developers! Looking forward to see the Fedora RPM available…

Markus Neteler , a founding member of FOSSGIS.de (D-A-CH), GFOSS.it (Italy) and the Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo), was head of the GIS and Remote Sensing Unit at the Research and Innovation Centre of the Fondazione Edmund Mach, Trento, Italy from 2008 to 2016.       According to the dowload page, the provided Mac Installer Package runs on both the OS X Mavericks (10.9), Mountain Lion (10.8) and Lion (10.7) – but not 10.6.x

    Sehr geehrter Herr Neteler,

    ich wende mich an Sie weil ich hoffe Sie können mir weiterhelfen (dont panic ;-))

    Wir haben seit einigen Wochen Qgis auf dem Microsoft Surface im Einsatz.
    Seit heute auch mit 2.6.
    Wir sind mit der Kombination sehr, sehr glücklich!!!
    Wenn Interesse besteht könnte ich einen kurzen Bericht mit Bildern, Screenshots, “Benchmarks” auf “Spearfischbasis” verfassen.
    Nun zu meiner eigentlichen Frage: Wer wäre für so ein Ansinnen der richtige Ansprechpartner beim Projekt?

    Now also available for Fedora!

    Installation: As “root” user, add the repo file:

    /etc/yum.repos.d/qgis.repo 
    [qgis]
    name=QGIS Repo
    baseurl=http://fedora.vitu.ch/QGIS/$releasever/$basearch
    enabled=1
    

    Then run

    yum install qgis

    to download and install the new QGIS 2.6. Enjoy!
